Goodfellow & Co Men's Athletic Fit Stretch Jeans
Our athletic fit stretch jeans are engineered for men who need room where it counts. We built these with extra space through the hip and thigh — the kind of room that comes from understanding real body shapes, not runway measurements.
The fabric is a cotton-blend denim with 2% elastane, giving you actual stretch that recovers throughout the day. The fit tapers below the knee to a modern leg opening that balances proportion without clinging. We designed this silhouette specifically for athletes, lifters, and anyone who's ever had to size up just to fit their quads, then deal with a waistband that gaps in back.

Fabric & Stretch Technology
We use a 12.5-ounce cotton-elastane denim that flexes with your stride and recovers its shape after wear. The 2% elastane content is carefully balanced — enough give for deep squats and long commutes, but not so much that the jeans go baggy by afternoon.
The weave is tighter than standard denim, which gives these jeans better shape retention through repeated wash cycles. You’ll notice the fabric has a softer hand than rigid selvedge, but it still holds structure where denim should. We finish each pair with a light enzyme wash that removes excess indigo without stripping the depth of color.

Athletic Fit Explained
Athletic fit means proportionally more room in the seat and thigh relative to the waist and lower leg. If you’ve worn traditional straight or slim fits and found them tight across the quads or restrictive when you sit, this cut solves that.
The silhouette provides approximately 1.5 inches more fabric through the thigh compared to our standard straight fit, measured at the widest point. From the knee down, the leg tapers gradually to a 16-inch opening at the hem for size 32 waist. The taper keeps the overall look modern without the cling of skinny styles. The rise sits at your natural waist — not low-slung, not high — which helps the extra thigh room work without adding visual bulk.
Sizing & Fit Guidance
Order your true waist size. These jeans are cut to fit without vanity sizing, so a tagged 34 measures 34 inches at the waistband when fastened.
If you’re between sizes or typically size up in men’s jeans to accommodate your thighs, start with your actual waist measurement here. The athletic cut is designed to give you that thigh room without forcing you into a larger waist. For inseam, we recommend your usual length — the fabric has enough recovery that it won’t stretch out vertically with wear. If you prefer a stacked look or plan to cuff, size up one inseam length.

Questions About Athletic Fit Stretch Jeans
These jeans contain 2% elastane blended into the cotton denim, which provides noticeable flex in all directions without feeling like leggings. The stretch is engineered for movement — sitting, squatting, climbing stairs — and the fabric recovers to its original shape after wear. You'll feel the give when you move, but the jeans still hold their structure and won't stretch out permanently over the course of a day.
Athletic fit jeans have extra room through the hip and thigh compared to straight fit, designed specifically for men with larger quads and glutes relative to their waist. Straight fit maintains a consistent width from hip to hem, while athletic fit tapers below the knee to a narrower leg opening. If you typically size up in straight jeans just to fit your thighs, athletic fit lets you order your true waist size and still get the room you need where it counts.
Expect minimal shrinkage — about 1% in length and width — after the first wash if you tumble dry on high heat. We pre-shrink the fabric during manufacturing, so most of the contraction has already happened before the jeans reach you. Washing cold and tumble drying on low will keep shrinkage to an absolute minimum. The elastane fibers are heat-sensitive, so lower dryer temperatures also help preserve the stretch over time.
Order your standard inseam measurement. Our 30-inch inseam works for men 5'7" to 5'9", the 32-inch fits most guys 5'10" to 6'1", and the 34-inch is designed for heights 6'2" and above. These are general guides — your torso-to-leg ratio matters more than total height. If you're unsure, measure an existing pair of jeans that fit you well from the crotch seam straight down to the bottom of the leg, then match that number.
Yes, especially in the dark indigo or black rinse washes. The tapered leg and mid-rise give them a modern, put-together look that works in business-casual environments. Pair them with a button-down and leather shoes and they read as polished as chinos. The stretch denim has a smooth finish that doesn't look overly casual or distressed.
Our jeans use the same elastane-blend stretch technology you'll find in brands priced three times higher. The main differences are in finishing details and brand markup. We skip the expensive hardware and designer labels, but the core fabric construction, bar-tack reinforcement, and fit engineering are built to the same standards. You're getting performance stretch denim at a fair price without paying for a logo.
That's exactly who we designed them for. The athletic fit provides proportionally more fabric through the seat and thigh, so you don't have to compromise by sizing up at the waist or dealing with restrictive straight-fit jeans. Lifters, cyclists, runners, and anyone with muscular legs will find these fit comfortably without looking baggy. The stretch fabric flexes with your movement and recovers, so the jeans don't lose their shape even after a leg day.
