Men’s Denim Trucker Jacket | Goodfellow & Co
We built this trucker jacket around the idea that classic menswear doesn’t need constant reinvention — just better materials and smarter construction. Our Goodfellow & Co men’s denim trucker jacket is cut from midweight cotton denim that softens with every wash while holding its shape through seasons of layering.
The silhouette strikes the balance between heritage fit and modern proportions. We narrowed the body slightly from vintage workwear patterns and adjusted the armholes for easier movement whether you’re reaching overhead or layering it over a hoodie. Button-flap chest pockets sit high enough to stay functional, and the waist adjusters let you dial in the fit without bulk. This is the jacket you reach for when the temperature drops below sixty — worn solo in spring, over flannel in fall, under a wool coat when winter hits.
Construction & design details

Fabric & construction
We source our denim from mills that specialize in midweight fabrics — the 12-ounce cloth sits right in the sweet spot between flimsy fashion denim and rigid workwear. The cotton fibers are ring-spun for durability, then woven in a traditional twill that holds color without excessive bleeding. Each jacket goes through a single enzyme wash before it reaches you, which opens up the weave just enough to eliminate break-in stiffness.
The stitching is triple-reinforced at every stress point: pocket corners, armholes, and the base of the button placket. We use contrast topstitching in a copper tone that echoes vintage denim detailing without veering into costume territory. Bar tacks reinforce the pocket flaps and side adjusters, and the buttons themselves are stamped metal with a matte finish that won’t scratch or tarnish. The lining is minimal — just a partial back panel that prevents the denim from clinging to your shirt without adding bulk.

Sizing & fit
This jacket runs true to size with a tailored fit through the body and sleeves. If you typically wear a medium in our button-down shirts, the medium trucker will layer comfortably over tees and lightweight knits. For layering over thicker hoodies or flannels, consider sizing up one increment.
Measurements by size
Small fits chest 34-36 inches with a 27-inch body length. Medium covers 38-40 inch chest with 28-inch length. Large accommodates 42-44 inch chest at 29 inches long. X-Large spans 46-48 inch chest with a 30-inch body length. Sleeve length increases a half-inch per size, starting at 34 inches in small. The shoulder seam sits just at your natural shoulder point — not dropped, not pulling inward.
Care instructions
Machine wash cold inside-out with like colors. The enzyme pre-wash eliminates most of the excess indigo, but the first two or three washes may still release minor dye — keep white laundry separate. Skip the fabric softener, which can coat the cotton fibers and reduce breathability. Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry to preserve the denim’s structure.
The color will fade gradually with repeated washing, developing natural highs and lows that mirror how you wear the jacket. If you prefer to slow the fade, wash only when necessary and spot-clean minor marks with a damp cloth. The copper stitching holds its tone through dozens of cycles without notable shift. For stubborn stains, treat with a denim-safe stain remover before washing — avoid bleach or harsh solvents that can weaken the cotton weave.

Trucker jacket fit & care questions
The jacket is pre-washed during manufacturing to remove most shrinkage potential. You can expect less than one percent shrinkage after the first home wash cycle if you follow cold water washing and low-heat drying. To eliminate any minimal shrinkage risk, hang dry instead of using the dryer.
Yes, the tailored fit accommodates lightweight to midweight hoodies comfortably. If you regularly layer over thicker hoodies or fleece, consider ordering one size up from your usual shirt size. The armholes are cut to allow layering movement without binding at the shoulders.
We narrowed the body slightly compared to classic workwear patterns while keeping the shoulder line true to size. The result is a modern silhouette that doesn’t billow at the waist but still provides enough room for layering. The sleeve length is consistent with contemporary proportions rather than the shorter vintage cuts.
The medium wash denim is pre-treated to remove excess indigo, so it fades gradually rather than drastically. You’ll see natural highs and lows develop over time with regular wear and washing, but the color remains consistent for months. Washing cold and avoiding harsh detergents helps preserve the original shade longer.
Both chest pockets are fully functional with button-flap closures and internal pen slots. They’re positioned high enough to remain accessible even when wearing the jacket open. The pockets are reinforced with bar tacks at the corners to handle daily use without tearing.
The 12-ounce denim weight works best in temperatures ranging from the mid-forties to low sixties Fahrenheit when worn as an outer layer. In cooler weather down to freezing, it functions well as a mid-layer under heavier coats. The lack of insulation makes it too light for solo wear in true winter conditions.
Metal tabs on each side of the waist allow you to tighten or loosen the fit by sliding the adjuster along a reinforced track. This lets you customize how the jacket drapes without permanently altering the garment. The adjusters are subtle enough that they don’t interrupt the jacket’s clean lines when left in the default position.
