Men’s Comfort Wear Polo Shirt | Goodfellow & Co
Our Comfort Wear Polo is engineered for guys who want a polished look without the stiff collar and scratchy fabric. We built this shirt with soft pique cotton that breathes through warm afternoons and stays tucked without bunching.
The fit sits right between slim and relaxed—close enough to look sharp under a jacket, roomy enough through the shoulders and chest for natural movement. We added a reinforced placket with dyed-to-match buttons and a longer back hem so it stays put whether you’re reaching overhead or sitting down. This is the polo you’ll reach for on Friday, then again on Sunday.
Fabric & fit details

Pique Cotton Construction
We chose a traditional pique weave because it performs. The textured surface pulls moisture away from skin faster than jersey knits, so you stay dry when temperatures climb. Our cotton is combed before spinning to remove short fibers—the result is a smoother hand and less pilling after repeated washes.
The fabric weight sits at 6.5 ounces per square yard, substantial enough to drape without clinging but light enough to wear comfortably in spring and summer. We finish every shirt with a preshrink treatment, which means the fit you try on in the store is the fit you keep. The same attention to durability we apply across our men’s shirts lineup ensures the collar won’t curl and the placket won’t pucker even after dozens of wash cycles.

Modern Fit Guide
How the Fit Works
Our modern fit tapers slightly from chest to waist without hugging. We cut the armholes higher than a classic fit to eliminate excess fabric, and we shaped the side seams to follow your natural frame. If you typically wear a medium in our crew-neck tees, the medium polo will fit the same through the chest and shoulders.
Sizing Across Body Types
For athletic builds—broad shoulders, narrower waist—size by your chest measurement; the side seams provide enough taper to avoid a boxy look. For straighter frames, choose your usual size; the cut falls clean without extra room. The longer back hem adds about an inch compared to standard polos, so it covers your belt line when you move. Sleeve length hits mid-bicep on most guys, a slightly shorter cut than traditional polos but long enough to look intentional rather than tight.
Care & Longevity
Machine wash cold with like colors. We recommend turning the shirt inside out to protect the buttons and placket stitching. Tumble dry on low or hang dry—either method works without shrinkage since the fabric is pre-treated.
Skip fabric softener. Pique cotton stays softer naturally with each wash, and additives can coat the fibers and reduce breathability over time. If you iron, use a medium-heat setting on the collar and placket; the body of the shirt rarely needs it. Expect the color to hold for years—we use reactive dyes that bond at the molecular level rather than sitting on the surface.

Questions About the Comfort Wear Polo
Our modern fit sits between slim and classic cuts. It’s more tailored than traditional polos from heritage brands but roomier than athletic-fit styles. The shoulders and chest follow your natural frame without excess fabric, and the side seams taper slightly toward the waist. If you wear a medium in most casual shirts, the medium polo will fit true to size. The armholes are cut higher to reduce bulk, and the sleeve length hits mid-bicep rather than extending toward the elbow.
Yes. The hem is cut with a subtle curve—slightly longer in back, shorter on the sides—so it looks intentional when worn untucked. The length covers your belt line without hanging too low. Many guys wear it tucked for work and untucked on weekends. Both styles work depending on the occasion.
The collar is reinforced with interlining and finished with double-needle stitching to prevent curling. After washing, lay the collar flat or hang the shirt on a hanger while it’s still slightly damp. The ribbed knit construction naturally returns to its original shape. We’ve tested the collar through 50+ wash cycles without significant degradation.
Yes. The clean placket, structured collar, and tailored fit meet most business casual standards. Pair it with chinos or dress pants and leather shoes for office environments that allow polos. The pique texture gives it a more polished look than jersey knit polos. It works equally well under a blazer or worn on its own.
No. We preshrink the cotton during manufacturing, so the fit you buy is the fit you keep. You can tumble dry on low heat or hang dry without worrying about size changes. Avoid high heat settings, which can fade colors faster over time, but the dimensions will remain stable.
We offer the Comfort Wear Polo in eight core colors: white, black, navy, charcoal heather, burgundy, olive, light blue, and stone. Seasonal colors rotate in spring and fall. All colors use the same pique cotton construction and modern fit. Check the product page for current availability in your size.
The regular Comfort Wear Polo uses 100% cotton pique for everyday breathability and a classic feel. The Performance Polo uses a synthetic moisture-wicking blend designed for active wear or very hot climates. If you’re wearing it casually or in air-conditioned spaces, the cotton version is more comfortable. If you need something for outdoor work or high-intensity situations, the performance fabric dries faster and resists odor better.
